PROJECT DETAILS
Watermiser were commissioned to design, manufacture and install a new GRP cooling tower complete with fan silencers and high level access platform, to replace the aging structural timber tower at the Invergordon Grain Distillery site.
Having previously installed galvanised and painted cooling towers, the engineers onsite had seen at first hand the problems that occur when using materials not suitable for the aggressive nature of cooling tower water treatment chemicals, and therefore liked the idea of using a GRP cooling tower that would be completely inert to any type of water treatment chemical they choose to use.
A site visit to the nearby Glenmorangie Distillery to see the existing Watermiser GRP cooling towers operate, convinced the engineering team at Whyte & MacKay that the Watermiser GRP cooling towers being offered were the best cooling towers for the job.

"Our initial priority here was to make sure our client was investing in the right type of cooling solution for them. With our extensive knowledge and experience in cooling systems, we were able to work through various options and costings with our client before they made a final decision. Throughout the project, the Watermiser team demonstrated a high level of professionalism and flexibility in delivering a top quality product which best matched our client's needs."

Chivas Bros is the global leader in luxury Scotch whisky. Part of Pernod Ricard, the world’s co-leader in wine and spirits, Chivas Bros operate 32 sites across the UK. Watermiser has been working with the company since 2007 and continues to provide spares to maintenance companies working in Chivas Bros distilleries.
Watermiser was originally asked to provide a cooling tower for Chivas Bros headquarters in Paisley. Following discussions, this later changed to a dry air cooler which Watermiser identified as more accurately meeting the customer’s needs. Assisting Chivas Brothers in the safe removal and disposal of their existing cooling tower, we supplied a new dry air cooler sized and designed to meet their specific process needs.

"We have a very close working relationship with Watermiser who have carried out numerous works at our Girvan site. They have a good working knowledge of our system, our site and our protocols which means they can work without constant supervision. Totally trustworthy and reliable, the Watermiser guys get on, get the work done and tidy up after themselves, with minimum fuss or disruption."

Nestle UK is a major player in Britain’s food industry, producing many high profile brands such as Kit Kat, Nescafe and Smarties, and exporting to over 50 countries worldwide. Watermiser has been working with the company for many years, carrying our works at several of their UK sites.
The existing cooling towers at Nestle’s Girvan site required new eliminators. Watermiser manufactured and installed two complete sets of eliminators, which would fit perfectly with the existing towers. We also carried out our own disinfections on the system to allow works to progress.

Watermiser first started working with Coca Cola in 1999, when we supplied replacement parts for cooling towers at their East Kilbride site. Since 2004 we have held the contract to inspect, clean and maintain all cooling towers at this site.
With the aim of reducing maintenance costs and improving efficiency at their East Kilbride site, Coca Cola commissioned Watermiser to replace their existing induced draught type cooling towers with new Watermiser GRP forced draught cooling towers. We provided total project management throughout the process, from safely removing the existing towers, to the design, manufacture and installation of the two new towers, complete with high level support steelwork and baseframes.
