"Watermiser were superb to deal with from start to finish. Efficient and responsive right from the tendering process, they demonstrated a high level of professionalism throughout the entire works. Their engineers are very obviously highly trained and everything went smoothly, according to plan and on budget."
Mark Bean
Vear Group Senior Site Manager Critical Buildings
Founded in 1954, the Vear Group is one of the UK’s most experienced companies operating in the building industry. Watermiser won its first contract with Vear Building Services in 2008.
Vear appointed Watermiser to carry out an upgrade to the existing Watermiser cooling towers at an HSBC bank data centre in central London. The job involved removing non-standard drift eliminators which had previously been fitted to the towers by another company and supplying and installing new tower top sections. This included new pack, spray distribution systems and eliminators, to meet the additional duty requirements onsite.

"I hadn’t used Watermiser previously but found them to be very professional, efficient and competitive. I understand Watermiser has 30 years experience of designing and installing this type of cooling system and it showed. Their fully trained designers, managers and service engineers did a first class job. Watermiser provided all drawings and documentation on completion which rounded off an enjoyable and successful project."
Craig Leather
Project Engineer (Pipe Services)
Tata Steel is one of the world’s most geographically diversified steel producers, with bases in over 50 countries. Tata Steel Europe, formerly Corus Group, is the second largest steelmaker in Europe. Over the years Watermiser has won various contracts for Corus and continues to regularly supply servicing and spares to Tata.
Watermiser contributed to the 2012 multi-million pound improvement scheme at the plate surface treatment plant at Clydebridge, Glasgow. Alongside the servicing of existing cooling cells previously installed by Watermiser, an additional cooling circuit was installed during a tight shutdown period.
The cooling circuit, which is critical to maintaining quench water temperatures and therefore directly affecting production, was completed on time and in budget. The circuit was jointly designed and consisted of pumps, cooling cells, valves, pipework, platforms and instrumentation which had to be tied into an existing cooling system.

Watermiser first started working with Coca Cola in 1999, when we supplied replacement parts for cooling towers at their East Kilbride site. Since 2004 we have held the contract to inspect, clean and maintain all cooling towers at this site.
With the aim of reducing maintenance costs and improving efficiency at their East Kilbride site, Coca Cola commissioned Watermiser to replace their existing induced draught type cooling towers with new Watermiser GRP forced draught cooling towers. We provided total project management throughout the process, from safely removing the existing towers, to the design, manufacture and installation of the two new towers, complete with high level support steelwork and baseframes.

BASF is the world’s leading chemical company. With headquarters in Germany, BASF has over 100,000 employees and 370 production sites worldwide. Following a merger in 2008, BASF took over Ciba Speciality Chemicals, a Swiss based chemical company with whom Watermiser worked for many years, supplying cooling towers and spares. Watermiser continues to work with the company, primarily at its site in Paisley.
Watermiser was appointed to supply and install a new cooling tower based on calculated duty at Ciba’s Paisley site. Offering unity with the existing towers, the new tower required low noise application, level switches and a vibration protection switch.

"This job presented us with a number challenges from start to finish, but especially at the installation stage, which had to be carried out in very difficult working conditions, including the weather and surrounding ground. However the attention to detail shown by our installation team in these conditions was exemplary, with everything carried out exactly as requested by our Contracts Manager and, more importantly, our client. The quality of the end product and the flexible manner shown by the whole Watermiser team led to some very high praise from our client, who advised “Watermiser will be our first port of call for future work to our cooling system."

Watermiser Ltd
Vallourec Mannesmann Oil & Gas UK Ltd is the largest UK based manufacturer and supplier of Oilfield Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) to the North Sea oil and gas industry. With its commercial headquarters in Aberdeen, Watermiser supplied cooling towers to Vallourec’s Bellshill plant in 1975 and more recently completed a substantial programme of works.
The large structural steel and timber cooling towers onsite at Bellshill were originally fitted with timber slats at the air intake areas. Overtime these had become damaged, allowing direct sunlight into the tower basetank, meaning the towers did not comply with the Health & Safety Commission’s Guidelines L8. Vallourec appointed Watermiser to supply and install new air inlet elements to the towers, including housing. The new PVC air inlet louvers we installed ensured direct sunlight entering the basetank was greatly reduced, while also significantly reducing the effects of windage and the amount of water spray which could escape through the sides of the tower.
